New York State Senator Martin Connor (D-Manhattan & Brooklyn) and Assemblywoman Joan Millman (D-Brooklyn) sponsored the 2007 Senior Fair, a free event for all senior citizens and people interested in their districts.
The fair was held on Thursday, June 28, 2007, from 11 A.M. – 3 P.M., at St. Francis College, 182 Remsen Street (between Court and Clinton Streets), in Brooklyn Heights.
Free information included:
· Government services information including representatives from
federal, state, and city agencies to answer questions on topics such
as housing, (including SCRIE, Senior Citizen Rent Increase
Exemption), medical services, including Medicaid and Medicare
info, meal programs, victim crime prevention, transportation
programs, free Metro cards, consumer protection info, etc.
· Healthcare services, including free blood pressure, acupuncture,
herbal products, etc.
· Community and not for profit groups like AARP, Access-a-ride,
exercise programs sponsored by the YMCA, etc.
· Free gifts were distributed and refreshments were served.
